Eight-foot beds are becoming more and more uncommon on pickup trucks. Typically, a standard truck nowadays is coming with either a six and a half or six and three quarter foot bed, which is perfectly fine. Adding a hitch like this to the bed of your vehicle is going to allow you to easily connect and disconnect to your 5th-wheel trailers. This hitch is going to have a 25,000-pound gross trailer weight, and a 6,250-pound vertical load limit, which is straight up and down.It's going to give us two points of articulation, front to back and side to side. Reese OEM 5th Wheel Hitch Installation - 2018 Ram 3500- Video
Today on our 2018 Ram 3500 we're going to be taking a look at the Reese OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing prep-package.This is what our Reese 5th Wheel Hitch looks like when it's installed in our truck. This is going to allow us to easily hook up to the king pin on our 5th wheel trailer. A nice thing about this, is this is designed to work with our factory puck system.This curved hitch is going to have a nice wide base. Constructed of forged steel with a nice black powder coat finish that's going to resist any rust or corrosion. Each foot can be easily adjusted to lock into our factory puck system. Our center section allows us to adjust the height of our head by giving us 2-1/2" of adjustability.For our head they've allowed us a have wide opening here at the front that's going to allow us to hook up to our king pin very easily even if we're at an angle. more

Today on our 2015 GMC Sierra 2500, we're going to be taking a look at the inaudible 00:00:04 hijacker auto slide fifth wheel trailer hitch. Part number DM850034.This hitch is going to provide you with 18,000 pounds gross weight rating, it's going to give you 14 inches of travel to the very back, it's going to have a single jaw system which makes for a tighter fit around your king pin.To activate the jaw system, when hooking up to your trailer, you simply pull the safety pin and clip, slide your handle out, and you'll see how the draw spreads apart. Once you lock the handle open, when you back your king pin in, or back up to your trailer, it's going to spread this apart just a little bit. What it's going to do, it's going to put pressure on this side, which is going to release the handle lock and allow the jaw to close.You're going to have guide rails here and that's what sets this apart from others. These guide rails can be adjusted depending on the size of your pin box. All you would do is once you have your pin box, or you're attached to your fifth wheel, you're going to take these rails, going to loosen them up, slide them in, up against your pin box and then tighten them back into place. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 RAM 2500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt E16 fifth wheel trailer hitch with R16 slider, part number 16516.So here's what our E16 hitch and R16 slider looks like once we have it installed. And this is going to allow us to tow a fifth wheel trailer down the road safely. And a common issue when you're towing a fifth wheel, is that we have a lot of clearance issues if you don't have a full eight foot bed. Whenever we go to make that tight turn, there is a chance that we could make contact with our cab when we're going around a corner.Our slider's going to allow us to have 12 inches of extra clearance whenever we're going around those turns slowly. So if we come to the handle here, pull it out and we're going to turn it towards the cab of the truck and that's going to allow our hitch to slide 12 inches towards the back, giving us that much more clearance. And it will lock back into place in the maneuvering position, so we can go around that turn slowly.On the passenger side, it is going to have an indicator. more

Now, the reason you're going to want this particular fifth-wheel and slider compared to other options on the market is that if your Ford truck, such as this one, has the factory rail system, this drops right in with no modification to the vehicle required at all. Also, you're going to need a slider if your truck does not have 8' bed. This particular truck has a 6-3/4' bed.As we make sure quick turns or do tight corners or pull into gas stations, we run the risk of having the overhang of our fifth-wheel contacting the cab of our truck. Now this is gonna allow us to tow our 5th wheel trailer down the road safely. Now, like our truck, if you ever towed with a short bed truck, you do know that going around corners with a 5th wheel trailer does get a little squirrel-y, but luckily, if we flip this lever here, we have a slider that's built in, that's gonna give us that much more extra room, and allow us to maneuver around corners with ease. Now, it's gonna slide the full 12", getting that trailer away from our cab so we don't have to worry about crushing it.Now, our Patriot is gonna have a dual jaw mechanism. Now that's gonna have a full 360 degree kingpin contact, and it's gonna be a lot more quiet than that slider style jaw, where that bar is gonna go across and make contact that way. Now, the fully articulating head is gonna reduce all that noise, and reduce chucking while you're driving down the road.We're gonna have three different height adjustments, from 17" to 19", and that's gonna be nice so you can dial in that perfect level stance when you're towing your trailer down the road. more

Today on our 2017 GMC Sierra 3500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the B&W Companion OEM Fifth Wheel with Slider for Chevy and GMC Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3770. Here's what our fifth wheel with slider looks like when it's fully installed. And since we have a short-bed truck, it's going to allow us to tow a fifth-wheel trailer. And have enough clearance to make those turns, without having to worry about making contact with our cab. If we come to the handle right here, start in the lock position, and we can rotate it to the unlock position. Then we're going to have 12 inches of travel so the fifth wheel can go farther back towards the tailgate. We can make our turn, and then once we straighten out, we can again come to the handle, unlock it, and it'll slide back into the towing position. Now this fifth wheel slider is designed to work with the GM and Chevrolet factory prep package, and that's what these handles here are. It's just going to sit in and lock into place. more

Today, on our 2017 Ram 2500 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R16 Slider, part number C16521. Here's what our 5th wheel hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to mount using our base rails here and it's going to allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer. This is a six foot bed truck. If you've ever towed a 5th wheel with a short bed truck, you know that it comes in handy to have a slider like we have here whenever you're making tight turns. We come to this handle and we pull out. We can turn it and our 5th wheel's going to slide back 12" to give us extra clearance so we don't have to worry about our 5th wheel trailer hitting our cab. The slider is a nonbinding slider, so no matter what angle you're pulling your trailer at, it's going to be able to slide freely back and forth. Whenever we're done making that tight turn and getting around the corner, we can straighten our trailer out, straighten our truck out, and our slider's going to slide right back and lock into position. The jaw here is a two-piece jaw. more

Reese R16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford F250, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Titan 16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number RP30866. So, here we have our fifth wheel installed along with our base rails, which are sold separately. This fifth wheel is gonna work with all industry standard base rails that mount inside the truck bed. Now, this fifth wheel features a 16,000 pound gross trailer weight limit. That's the amount that it could pull and it also features a 4,000 pound vertical load limit. The head on the fifth wheel itself does swivel side-to-side and back-to-front to allow you to get the right angle when hooking up to your trailer. The way that we're gonna hook this up to your trailer is if you come over to this handle, rotate it up and then pull it out, you'll see the jaws are going to open. more

Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Installation - 2015 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford F250 we're going to be taking a look at the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package, part number C16520-16020. Here's what our 5th wheel hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer, and even though we have a short bed truck, that's where the slider's going to come in and it gives it that little bit of extra clearance. We come to the driver's side of our hitch here, the vertical bar here, it's going to be a latch for our slide. Now, this red indicator is letting us know that it's unlocked. When it's in the unlocked position, it's going to allow our hitch to slide back so when we make a turn, we don't have to worry about our 5th wheel trailer making contact with our cab. Then when we're ready to straighten back out, the hitch will slide back into the towed position, and we can lock the handle. Now here on our slider on the other side, it's going to show a green indicator letting us know that we're ready to tow. more

Demco 5th Wheel Underbed Rail Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 3500- Video
Today on our 2013 RAM 3500, we're going to take a look at installing the Demco Underbed Rail and Install Kit for the Demco Hijacker UMS Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches, part number DM8551006. With your under mount system, it's going to allow you to mount the Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot Fifth Wheel Chariot. Now without our hitch installed, we have some rubber plugs that are going to go over the holes, help keep out dirt and debris. You want to make sure you keep this area in here lubed up where your pins will fit, just to keep corrosion out. This fifth wheel hitch is designed to carry 21,000 pounds. It's got a 360 degree jaw to king pin contact. more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation - 2015 Ram 3500- Video
Today on our 2015 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Crew Cab we're going to be installing the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package vehicles, rated for 25,000 pounds, part number BWRVK3600. There's a handle on each side that has the black rubber piece on it. As you lift up, that's what releases it so that when you set it down on, it catches and locks it in place. You'll then need to take the pin, go back through, put your clip in. You need to do that for both sides. Now the head can pivot forward and backwards. Now that we have the head attached, to release the jaws so that you can hook up your camper or trailer, you remove the pin. more

Today, on this 2004 Dodge Ram pickup 2500 Series QuadCab, we're will be installing the B&W custom under-bed 5th-wheel installation kit, part number BWGNRK1313-5W. This kit is designed to work with the B&W 5th-wheel Companion hitch, part number BWRVK3500-5W. This can also be used as a Gooseneck hitch if needed. We're going to first go ahead and lower down and set aside the spare tire. Next, we're going to go ahead and remove both of the rear wheels just to make our installation a little bit easier and allow you to see things a little bit easier as well. Next, we're going to need to measure from the rear edge of the bed, right there, as part of the instructions. more

Today on this 2011 Dodge Ram pickup 3500 series crew cab we're going to install part number BWRVK3500-5W. We want to make sure we remove the gooseneck ball. At this point we can go ahead and start working with our 5th wheel companion hitch. We're going to start off our hitch partially assembled already. So we see an extra set of hands to help hold it and put it into the bed of the truck and then we'll go ahead and put it into our hitch. Initially in place, we want to make sure that our pads are in the truck of the bed itself. Tighten down the hardware to secure our pads. We're lucky our bolts actually got a little bit of bind so we can just tighten them down from the top. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 2012 Dodge Ram- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Ram pickup we'll be installing the Curt custom fifth wheel installation kit, part number c16420-204. To begin our install first note we've already gone ahead and lowered and removed the spare tire and both rear wheels. Next we'll need to remove the heat shield. To do this there are a total of five fasteners that will need to be removed. We'll go ahead and remove the fasteners, and set the fasteners and heat shield aside to be reinstalled later. Using the measurements provided with our installation kit, we'll be taking the rear base rail and set it into position. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 2002 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2002 Ford Super Duty, well be installing the Reese Quick Install Custom Base Rails and Install Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches, part number RP50082-58 in conjunction with the Reese Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Square Tube Slider Dual-Jaw, part number RP30051. The first step of our install is taking the rear base rail and setting it up in our truck bed. Using the measurements provided in our install kit, well go ahead and measure it out from the end of the truck bed. Note: this does not include the tailgate. Then well measure from side to side to make sure the base rail is even. The best recommendation is to go off the weld seam of the truck bed. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado- Video
All right. Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to install Part Number RP30868 from Reese. It makes things a little easier, what we've done so far is go ahead and remove the wheels on the back axle. Next, we'll go ahead and remove the hitch shield that's underneath. We're going to remove a portion of the hitch shield. The portion we are going to remove will be starting from the shock tower on the passenger side. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 2012 GMC Sierra- Video
Today on our 2012 GMC Sierra Denali well be installing the 5th wheel hitch, part number RP30081 and the Reese base rail kit part number RP50066-58. Our first step will be installing the rear base rail. We need to measure from the end of the truck bed to the back edge of the rear base rail. Once we get our length, well then measure side to side to make sure were center of the bed.Now that weve got our base rail in position we need to go ahead and mark the holes. Im going to use a color paint pen so that it really stands out for me. Now with my holes marked out, Im going to go ahead and take an eight inch bit to make a pilot hole. more
